Maria Rees Retires from SAFCAWritten on the 7 April 2021 by Kelly Higgins After serving SAFCA for almost two years, Maria Rees has retired from her role as its Workplace Development and Engagement Officer. Maria, who moved into the role after working as a financial counsellor at the Magdalene Centre for Anglicare, has chosen to spend more time with her family, especially her beloved husband, John, and their grandchildren. Maria's gentle nature, combined with warped sense of humour, will be greatly missed by her former teammates who wish her every happiness for the future. Maria's role has been filled by Kelly Higgins, who has the new job title of Advocacy and Communications Officer. Kelly comes to SAFCA after a long career in marketing and communication that saw her most recently in a multi-faceted role at Uniting Care Wesley Bowden. Kelly's passion for advocacy was piqued when she worked with UCWB's emergency relief team to respond to the phenomenal number of requests from international students at the start of COVID-19.
